Since 1999, we have been faithfully applying the principles of “Fair Business,” an ethical and human-centered code of conducting business activities. We understand that the actions of every company—including ours—have impacts that extend far beyond financial performance. That’s why we design and implement initiatives that reduce our energy and environmental footprint, strengthen the circular economy, and support local communities and social solidarity. In this way, we build relationships of trust with people.
We respect and reward everyone involved in the coffee value chain: the farmers, baristas, distributors, franchisees, employees, and the end consumer.
At Coffee Island, we see Sustainable Development as an integral part of our identity, mission, and corporate philosophy. Guided by Direct Trade—creating mutually beneficial, lasting relationships with producers on some of the best coffee farms around the world—we actively contribute to the economic, environmental, and social sustainability of the regions where we source our coffee.
In 2021, we completed our first Materiality Assessment. More than 3,000 of our stakeholders participated in this process, including company employees, business partners, suppliers, representatives of authorities, media, and consumers. These stakeholders identified the material topics that impact Coffee Island across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. These topics now shape all of our actions and are grouped into three pillars: People, Environment, and Product.
Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and international best practices, we are dedicated to creating stories and shaping our contribution to society, our care for the environment, and our responsibility toward our products through every action we take.
